Alaskan Bush People fans received positive news during the show’s highly-anticipated Christmas special over the weekend. In addition to getting an inside look at the family’s unique take on Christmas, viewers learned mom Ami has completed her chemotherapy treatments for lung cancer.

“There’s every single reason to be hopeful and absolutely optimistic,” Ami’s doctor informed her and husband Billy. “You were pretty sick. You got through it!”

As RadarOnline.com readers know, matriarch Ami’s stage-four lung cancer uprooted the wolfpack out of Alaska and into Beverly Hills earlier this year. Ami underwent two rounds of chemo at UCLA medical center, which placed the show on an indefinite hold by Discovery, the network that produces the hit show.

“Her lungs are clear,” an ecstatic Billy told viewers. “She’s still weak and has a cough and all that, but if you look at her eyes it’s the best part because Ami’s back inside there and she wasn’t for a while.”

“We’ve been in California for so long, and up until recently we haven’t been able to look out and see if there’s a road going out of here or not. But now it’s a good beginning!”

Ami, appearing relieved, told her husband, “Life is a gift.”

But does this all mean Ami is really in the clear? While the episode ended with a happy ending for the Browns, the holiday special also showed the kids working around the clock to surprise their mother with a Christmas celebration as if it were her last.

“It still feels unreal that we’re celebrating for Christmas and doing our tree in like, a desert,” Bird, 23, said.

“She won’t be expecting Christmas at all,” Bear said of Ami, adding that the family does not always celebrate Christmas on December 25.

Earlier this month RadarOnline.com reported that Ami seemingly missed out from patriarch Billy’s 65th birthday party on the beach.

And just weeks earlier, 15-year-old Rain Brown admitted she was “hurting inside” while watching her cancer-stricken mother suffer chemo treatments.

Despite reports of her health still in a rapid decline, the Browns rounded out their Christmas holiday with nothing but positive thoughts for Ami.

“It’s been a hard road but to know that it’s been worth it and to know that it’s better than it was, no matter what it may be, makes it all feel very good,” said Billy.

Ami’s doctor added that the next phase for the star will be “getting strength back and getting back to normal.”
